USARIEM: A Quest for Knowledge – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This 20 minute video tells the story of USARIEM, the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine. Its products can be found on the sweeping vistas of a blistering hot desert battlefield ...in the chilling swamps of a Ranger training center ... along a rugged mountain range dividing two hostile neighbors ... and in every diverse climate and region around the globe where the U.S. Warfighter now guards the peace and may someday have to do battle. To tell this story, we spotlight USARIEM=s greatest asset C the men and women who plan and conduct the research, and the volunteers who test their theories in the lab and in the field. A professional off-screen narrator frames the story and provides the connecting details.

AIDS INSIDE THE BODY – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This medical video uses a combination high-end 2-D and 3-D video animation to visualize the workings of the body's immune system and show how HIV attacks and destroys key cells. Designed as part of an inter-active computer program for healthcare workers.

MEDPORT – Writer/Director
VIDEO ~ Desert Storm taught us a great deal. It tested our air-land battle doctrine and vindicated our investments in research and development of advanced technologies. It showed that the U.S. Warfighter was ready and capable to fight the war. Unfortunately, the same was not true for battlefield medical care provider. Although there was some individual and unit readiness, there was a general lack of medical system integration. In some cases whole elements of units were absent or older equipment configurations were incompatible with the air-land battle. This video illustrates a instrumented devices that link battlefield medical personnel to the Warfighter during live field training. These devices record realistic wounding data allowing medical personnel to impact the success of failure of the training exercise.

MERLIN – Writer/Director
VIDEO ~ This informational video showcases the Medical Readiness Learning Initiative. MERLIN is an advanced system using affordable, off-the-shelf computer components combined with a customized, user-friendly interface to create, transfer, and access casualty data. MERLIN addresses both the training and operational needs of Reserve and Guard medical units. It gives them the ability to train both medical and non-medical personnel on tasks they don’t normally do in peacetime, such as mass-casualty situations or management of chemical warfare injuries. In their deployment phase, MERLIN provides a platform that can be taken to the field and used to enter patient information from the scene and then passed through the echelons of medical care.

FIELD CASUALTY TREATMENT — Scriptwriter
CD-ROM ~ Designed to train Army medics, this interactive simulator presents the student with realistic field casualties. Each casualty wave includes an initial scenario video clip and a second look video clip in which the camera acts as the student's point of view. After learning of patient findings through dialogue between the casualty and other unit members, the student must perform a hasty field triage, provide life-sustaining first aid to control bleeding, maintain respiration and cardiac function, and supervise evacuation based on severity of injuries.


DMSSC INFORMATION SYSTEMS – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This 3 part program is designed to inform the Defense Department medical community about the new computer architecture which will dramatically improve health and hospital services within DoD. The programs, aimed at high level decision-makers, mid-level managers, and support personnel, use 3-D computer animation coupled with live action case histories, to explain the need for a systems approach to information networking.

CHCM: HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT FOR THE FUTURE – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ Designed for a senior military audience, this glimpse into the future uses live action and computer graphics to illustrate how an advanced computer based management system will help hospital commanders and their staffs to continue delivering quality, cost effective health care in the 1990s and beyond.

DEADLY AGENTS – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ This 16 mm documentary film tells the story of the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Disease. It highlights USAMRIID's unique world-wide efforts in battling highly infectious agents and showcases the sophisticated safety features the Institute employs to treat individuals who have contracted rare viruses.

COMPUTER ASSISTED IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This video overviews a new computer program which utilizes dental records to identify missing persons and mass casualties for the U.S. military. The video illustrates how the system speeds data entry, comparison, and final verification of victims.

BIOMEDICAL EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Describes the Army training program for Biomedical Repair Technicians and how they interact with the hospital's medical staff to maintain an inventory which can include up to 20,000 items.

MILITARY EYEWEAR – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ This instructional film demonstrates the skills needed to measure, fit, and adjust mono-focal, bifocal, and tri-focal eye wear.

FOREIGN WEAPON WOUNDING POTENTIAL – Scriptwriter / Director
VIDEO ~ This 5 part program briefs medical planners on the lethality of the modern battlefield and explains a new computer system which can estimate the wounding ability of Potential Adversary weaponry.

WATER PRESSURE LAVAGE – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Illustrates new medical water lavage technology developed in Vietnam for wound debriedment. Also shows applications for automated surgical scrub for operating room personnel.

PESTICIDE SPRAYER CALIBRATION – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Three training films designed to support the Department of Defense Pesticide Training Center, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. The films describe calibration and operation of Ultra Low Volume sprayers for insect control in outdoor areas and food warehouses.

SURGICAL RECRUITMENT SPOTS -- Writer/Director
VIDEO ~ Five 3 Min. Videos designed to recruit surgeons for the U.S. Army Medical Department, these 5 spots use footage of operations, facilities, and support staff combined through extensive ADO and PAINT BOX video special effects. Initially produced for an exhibit at the American College of Surgeons, the spots have aired at numerous professional medical meetings across the U.S.

TRIMIS – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This 3 video series provides an overview of the Tri-Service Medical Information computer System being installed in military hospitals. Areas include patient and physician scheduling, pharmaceutical prescriptions, and hospital inventory management.

ARMORED FIGHTING VEHICLE NONFRAGMENT INJURIES – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This film provides general background on nonfragment injuries to crewmen of armored vehicles. Documents recent tests involving the Army's new Bradley AFV and various types of enemy warheads.

HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (AIDS): SITUATION REPORT – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ A 30 Min. Video designed for corpsman and nurses of the U.S. Navy Medical Department. The video presents general medical facts about AIDS including immune system response to HIV, explains the Navy's medical screening and testing program, discusses medical evaluation and patient management, and highlights protective measures for medical personnel.

NAVAL HOSPITAL SHIPS: SITUATION REPORT – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This 30 Minute video Client: the U.S. Navy Medical Department describes the construction and operation of the world's largest floating hospitals. The program includes a brief history of the hospital ship and goes on to show the new ships' crew and hospital spaces, and the patient flow plan.

MANAGEMENT OF ACUTE HEAD AND SPINE INJURIES – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ Instructs medical personnel in the proper methods of evaluating neurological trauma. Includes film sequence demonstrating emergency room protocol for a head & spine injury.

NAVAL DISABILITY EVALUATION Series – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ This 2 part video series provides an orientation for Naval personnel assigned to the Disability Evaluation System, and for sailors and marines who are being evaluated for disability status.

PATIENT CARE ASSIGNMENT – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ Describes the responsibilities and duties of the Navy Nurse in managing the skills of his/her Hospital Corps staff. Part of the Navy Nurse Corps orientation series.

SHIPBOARD POTABLE WATER: Surveillance – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Provides an overview of the potable water system aboard ship. Stresses the cooperative relationship which must exist between Engineering and Medical personnel in order to properly protect the drinking water supply.

STOP THE BLEEDING – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Describes the importance of blood in the functioning of the body. Illustrates the three preferred methods to control bleeding.

TRANSPORTATION OF THE WOUNDED ABOARD SHIP – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Illustrates the specific problems encountered and techniques used to handle and transport the injured aboard ship.

TREATMENT FOR FRACTURES – Scriptwriter
16MM FILM ~ Provides 1st aid instruction on treating fractures. Defines types of fractures and teaches principles of splinting. Gives specific instruction on the use of the wire mesh splint.

NAVAL MEDICAL COMMAND SITUATION REPORTS – Scriptwriter
VIDEO ~ A video magazine style series reporting on major topics of interest to the Naval Medical Department. SITREP #1 provides an overview of combat readiness training programs, SITREP #2 explains the recent NAVMEDCOM reorganization, and SITREP #3 focuses on the training programs run by the Naval School of Health Sciences.
