The topsides were sprayed Navy Blue (the original color) with Awlgrip back in 1978 at Hartge's Yard in Galesville, MD. Though the years have added some scratches, Mirror Glaz wax still brings out the shine. We renewed the sunflower yellow boot stripe (Auart Pettit #3415) in 1999 and applied a new gold coaming stripe (self-adhesive tape) in 2001. That same year, we painted the decks, cabin sides, and cockpit with Petit one-part marine enamel. We also duplicated most of the worn exterior teak trim in mahogany and applied 6 coats of Captains gloss varnish. The trim pieces were never installed and remain un-weathered and like-new in our garage. We've also kept the old teak trim pieces. See Schematic for profile drawing.

The bottom was taken down to the gel-coat about 12 years ago. The purpose was to remove layers of accumulated bottom paint. Once taken down, only a couple of small blisters were evident. These were dug out and filled with micro balloons then a West System barrier coat was applied. We then applied two coats of black  Interlux ablative paint (#7790). Since then we've continued using the Interlux ablative to prevent build up. it's worked and the bottom remains smooth making for a fast boat. The vessel was last hauled in July 2001 and is due for a  power wash and bottom painting.
